Position Summary Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention while adhering to radiation safety principles.
Responsibilities
Exercise professional judgment in the performance of services and maintain a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
Deliver appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
Comply with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
Adhere to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
Assess the patient’s physical condition and age‑specific needs.
Provide instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
Perform proper patient identification, acquire patient’s clinical history, and assure that the information is accurately documented.
Position patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulate technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
Assess diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
Apply principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
Comprehend and comply with Quality Control standards and participate in all Quality Control tasks.
Demonstrate proficiency in contrast medication administration with and without use of power injectors.
Perform venipuncture and evaluate IV access for the purpose of contrast administration as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
Administer medical aid as required in cases of adverse reaction to contrast medication and/or other emergencies.
Apply appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross‑contamination of contagious diseases.
Assist in supervision of student technologists and training of new technologists.
Utilize all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
Ensure safety of all customers.
Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies, department guidelines, and education requirements.
Qualifications Education / Training
Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology; or
Graduate of an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Licensure / Certification
Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
Valid Certified Radiologic Technologist licensure by the State of Florida.
Additionally, must have one of the following:
Valid ARRT certification (R); or
Valid ARRT certification (CT); or
Valid NMTCB certification in (CT).
