Job Overview
American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) is an industry‑leading battery metals and critical material technology development and commercialization company with a pilot plant outside Reno, Nevada. ABTC is building a full‑scale lithium‑ion battery recycling operation and requires an Analytical Chemistry Lab Technician to support the design and implementation of proprietary recycling and resource extraction processes. The position reports to the Senior Staff Analytical Chemist and is located at the pilot plant.
Responsibilities
Maintain laboratory hygiene and clean labware, instrumentation, and workspaces.
Prepare samples, including microwave and hot‑plate digestions, dilution, concentration, and purification.
Assist with sample analysis and data processing using ICP‑OES, ion chromatography, TOC analyzer, and benchtop titrators, pH, conductivity sensors.
Manage laboratory information and track samples and results within the Laboratory Information Management System.
Support data management and reporting.
Qualifications
B.S. in Applied Chemistry or related field.
Knowledge of organic and inorganic analytical chemistry principles.
At least 1 year of analytical chemistry laboratory experience with sample preparation, instrumentation, and data reporting.
Experience with ICP‑OES, ion chromatography, TOC, and other bench‑top instrumentation.
Strong attention to detail, reproducible results, and proficiency in standard operating procedures.
Physical Demands
Stand for prolonged periods (up to 6 hrs/day) and move laboratory samples and materials (up to 50 lb).
Wear appropriate PPE including lab coat, eye protection, hand protection, respirators.
Work in environments with dust, noise, and chemicals.
Good manual dexterity and 20/20 vision (or corrected).
