Acts as role model and a resource for peers, physicians, and nursing staff.2. Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Function as the mid-level provider for newborn patients by:

1. Assessing, planning, and evaluating medical care under the direction of the attending pediatrician.

2. Reporting accurately and concisely to attending pediatrician and in problem-oriented documentation.

3. Ordering and interpreting laboratory data and plain x-ray film as appropriate.

4. Writing appropriate orders for medications, IV therapy, parental nutrition, blood products and for admissions, transfers, and discharges.

5. Attend high-risk deliveries, resuscitate, and stabilize patients.
