Job Description As a Security Officer - Government Site Patrol TWIC in Portsmouth, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government and more. You’ll use our exclusive Claim a Shift platform to view and pick up open shifts based on your availability—providing flexibility and hands‑on experience across various industries. As a patrol unarmed officer, you will monitor and patrol designated government locations, deter security‑related incidents, and promote a secure environment. Your presence and routine patrols will support a welcoming atmosphere while delivering exceptional customer service and communication. You’ll play a key role in maintaining Allied Universal’s commitment to putting people first and delivering reliable, innovative solutions.

Pay Rate: $17.25 / Hour

What You’ll Do

Provide customer service by following security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and participating in emergency response activities as needed.

Respond to incidents and critical situations calmly and with problem‑solving skills, following established protocols.

Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the assigned location and its perimeter to observe and report unusual activity.

Help deter unauthorized activities and/or access by maintaining a visible presence and reporting observations.

Document and communicate incidents, hazards, or irregularities to Allied Universal management and/or client contacts.

Assist visitors, contractors, and employees with inquiries while maintaining security‑related protocols.

Remain alert and prepared to respond to emergency situations or alarms as required by location guidelines.

Collaborate with Allied Universal team members and client contacts to support security‑related operations at the location.

Minimum Requirements

Possess a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential issued by the Transportation Security Administration.

A valid Guard Card or security‑related license is preferred.

Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years for armed roles.

Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

Applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.

Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.

Applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.

Licensing requirements may be required prior to employment per state/local laws and regulations.

A valid driver’s license will be required only for driving positions.
