Primary Function We are seeking a Senior Reinsurance Accountant to join a specialty insurance company built on experience. The Senior Reinsurance Accountant is responsible for executing accounting functions related to assumed and ceded reinsurance activities, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, research and month‑end close. The position requires a high level of independence and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to timelines and communicating clearly.

Duties And Responsibilities

Enter and reconcile facultative certificates into Reinsurance Pro software

Book monthly journal entries to record assumed and ceded reinsurance activity in the general ledger

Support audits

Identify and implement enhancements to reinsurance accounting workflows

Interact and collaborate with other departments on a regular basis

Other Essential Duties

Preparation of the reinsurance to GL reconciliations

Preparation of monthly bordereaux reports and cash calls

Preparation of quarterly and annual statutory statements including footnotes and supporting documents for reinsurance related activity

Monitor letters of credit and trust accounts to assure appropriate coverage is in place

Assist and provide documents related to financial audits and regulatory exams

Maintain procedures for assigned tasks and update periodically as controls are implemented

Perform other duties as assigned

Experience, Education, Special Skills Required

Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or equivalent

Minimum 3+ years of reinsurance accounting experience – preferably with a property and casualty insurance company

Knowledge of various forms of reinsurance, contracts, and complex calculations

Proficiency in Sapiens Reinsurance Pro software or equivalent

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Working knowledge of a major general ledger system

Strong analytical skills with attention to detail

Takes initiative, self‑directed, and able to work independently

Ability to multitask and adapt quickly to high priority assignments

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Proficient at prioritizing and managing multiple assignments and deadlines

Exceptional organizational skills

Pay Estimate $100,000 – $125,000 per year
