Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is a leading power engineering consultant firm that provides engineering, system planning and studies, technical consultation, project management, surveying, environmental planning, commissioning/testing and construction services to electric utilities, energy developers, and industrials throughout the U.S. ECI has system voltages from 4.16 kV to 765 kV.

ECI has an immediate opening for a Project Engineer.

Responsibilities

Conceptual, preliminary and final detailed design of new, upgraded and expanded substations, including material procurement, construction and commissioning/startup support through energization.

Develop and deliver physical, electrical, civil and communication design studies, calculations, drawings, exhibits and specifications.

Assist the Project Manager in planning and execution of best‑in‑class projects, including client and stakeholder coordination, training and mentoring of design staff, project quality assurance, and oversight of design engineers, designers, drafters and support staff.

Coordinate specialized tasks with ECI subject‑matter expert discipline groups such as Distribution Studies, Transmission Studies, Grounding Studies, Protection, Civil Engineering, Communication (SCADA Integration), Transmission & Distribution Engineering, Environmental Planning, Surveying, Lands/Right‑of‑Way, and Project Management/Controls.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).

6+ years of project and design engineering experience in the utility or merchant power industry.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organization and planning abilities.

Ability to work in a team environment, commitment to quality and accuracy, and willingness to meet fast‑paced project schedules.

Advanced knowledge of power engineering principals, applicable codes, standards and design tools.

Basic project management execution skills and ability to oversee and direct design personnel.

PE license preferred.

Occasional travel/driving required; subject to client‑mandated drug and background checking.
