Job Description Position Summary:

The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for assisting physicians, PAs, or NPs with clerical duties, patient flow, patient care, and procedures.

Essential Job Functions

Prepare the examination room, escort patients into the room, and clean the room when the exam is complete.

Maintain efficient patient flow.

Ensure proper preparation for patient visits and gather pertinent information.

Communicate and provide care consistent with age, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of the patient.

Answer the telephone in an appropriate manner and take accurate messages.

Schedule appointments accurately according to departmental guidelines.

Consistently and accurately stock examination rooms with necessary supplies.

Assist in ordering and maintaining supplies as assigned.

Reconcile encounters daily and accurately, according to policy guidelines.

Effectively communicate problems, concerns, or issues to the supervisor and/or manager promptly.

Understand and perform within scope of practice.

Obtain vital signs and document accurately in EHR.

Review and update medication list and accurately document known allergies in EHR.

Enter orders and schedule appointments in the practice management system (PMS) and EHR.

Provide referrals and/or consult orders appropriately and in a timely manner in the PMS and EHR.

Adhere to universal safety precautions when administering medications and disposing of medical waste.

Maintain proficiency with department‑specific equipment, troubleshoot, and report malfunctions promptly.

Facilitate transition of care to UCC/hospital.

Demonstrate flexibility with various work schedules.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Provide scribing services.

Education, Certification, Computer & Training Requirements

High School Graduate/GED/Equivalent. Associate Degree preferred.

Graduated from an accredited medical assistant or phlebotomy program.

0–1 year related work experience required; 2–4 years preferred.

Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire.

Ability to communicate in English, orally and in writing.

Organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner.

Basic proficiency in computer use.

Travel Ability to commute to satellite offices as needed.

Pay Range $22.02 – $27.07 hourly.
