The Loma Linda VA has an opening for an energetic, driven, and compassionate Physician in healthcare to serve as a Geriatrician.
Facility Details Facility:
VA Loma Linda Healthcare System (VALLHCS) is recruiting to fill a Board Certified or Board Eligible Geriatrician to care for our Veterans – America’s Heroes. Selected candidate may be considered for a faculty appointment at Loma Linda University and will be involved with education and teaching of medical students, residents and other providers. This opportunity is at a state-of-the-art VA facility in Loma Linda, CA. VA Loma Linda is among the VA Medical Centers in the Western U.S. and serves veterans who have proudly served our nation.
Position Details
The physician will deliver primary care within an Interdisciplinary Team model to a diverse population of veterans with medical problems (e.g., dementia, delirium, urinary incontinence, falls, wounds, COPD, CHF, diabetes mellitus).
Responsibilities include evaluation and treatment of acute and chronic medical problems, completion of physical examinations, initiating consultations to specialty services, ordering diagnostic studies (e.g., laboratory tests, x-rays, electrocardiograms), health promotion and disease prevention, education and counseling of veterans and their families, and documenting in the medical record in accordance with Medical Staff bylaws and rules.
Board certification or Board eligibility in Geriatric Medicine, or Internal Medicine, is preferred.
Community Highlights Spectacular Loma Linda, CA (Spanish for Beautiful Hill), is nestled in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains. The city is about 60 miles east of Los Angeles in San Bernardino County. It offers a small-town setting with proximity to beaches, mountains, and desert resorts.
