Welcome to the CPS-Peer Support Group Program role at Claratel Behavioral Health.
Claratel Behavioral Health is an innovative, community‑based organization providing a full range of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services to underserved individuals. As a public, not‑for‑profit organization, it operates in more than 20 locations in DeKalb County, Georgia, employing over 400 direct‑care and support staff.
Peer Support Specialist Full‑time | Mon–Fri, 8:00 am–4:30 pm
What You’ll Do
Lead psycho‑educational, skill‑building groups to foster socialization, self‑advocacy, and daily living skills
Manage a caseload, offering individualized support, care coordination, and goal setting
Help develop and monitor individual recovery plans in collaboration with clinical staff
Serve as a role model of recovery and resilience, demonstrating professionalism and hope
Advocate for clients and educate families and caregivers about recovery principles
Assist individuals in connecting to community resources and navigating services
Document services and progress using electronic medical records
Transport participants for community outings and support integration activities
Work alongside clinicians, physicians, families, and housing providers to ensure well‑rounded support
Embrace flexibility, teamwork, and a deep commitment to the recovery process
What We’re Looking For
Certification as a Certified Peer Specialist – Mental Health (CPS‑MH) in Georgia, or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
At least 6 months of experience (paid or volunteer) in mental health peer support
High school diploma or GED
Basic computer proficiency (EHR experience a plus)
Strong communication and care coordination skills
Valid transportation and willingness to drive participants (agency vehicle provided)
Passion for working with people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences
A strong sense of accountability, self‑awareness, and the ability to inspire others by example
Preferred
Experience in facilitating recovery‑focused groups and community‑based engagement
Knowledge of community resources, basic group facilitation, and goal‑setting techniques

Working Conditions
Clinic‑based with some community work during outings and events
