Title: Spanish Linguist - Caribbean Dialects (Puerto Rican and Dominican)

Location: Nationwide

Security Clearance: Public Trust

Schedule: This is an as Needed Part‑Time Essential Services Position which will require you to work day and/or night shifts to include weekends and holidays. This position is subject to the Service Contract Act and is classified as non‑exempt, which means you will be eligible for overtime.

Hourly: $28.73/hr

Job Summary Our linguists are responsible for performing real‑time transcriptions of sensitive material from Spanish Caribbean dialects (Puerto Rican and Dominican) to English; collecting, analyzing, identifying, and decoding colloquialisms and slang terms; extracting pertinent information and communicating that information to law enforcement agents.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

Listen to oral and written intercepts or pre‑recorded communications in Spanish and provide verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions as applicable per project.

Relate all pertinent information to the client when supporting a live project.

Contribute to a master‑list of slang words and codes for the duration of the project.

Maintain a voice library for the duration of the project.

Transcribe and translate pertinent calls and documents as assigned.

Produce court‑ready transcriptions of pertinent calls, chats, and documents, following the required format.

Use the various reference tools created during the project.

Transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8‑hour day.

Operate specialized software equipment provided by the government, including JSI voice box, Pen‑link, Comverse, and other communication collection equipment used at the assigned site.

Maintain a daily log of productivity.

Perform related duties as assigned, within the scope of practice.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree and three years’ experience in a professional setting, or associate degree and five years’ experience, or high school diploma and seven years of experience.

Minimum of one year of transcription experience in the required language.

Will undergo a government background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

Knowledge of source language colloquial terms and expressions.

Knowledgeable in SMS language, social media, and Webchat.

Excellent verbal and written skills in the target language, including correct and accurate grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Score of 3 or better on a third‑party Language Assessment (Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing) in English.

Strong computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment and communicate effectively with management and law enforcement personnel.

Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, meet strict deadlines, balance multiple tasks, and work in a team environment.

Ability to take technical direction and feedback from various sources.

Type 45 words per minute.

Clearance

Ability to obtain/maintain a Security Clearance.

Favorable credit check for all cleared positions.

Successfully pass a background investigation, medical and drug screen.

U.S. citizen.

Permanent resident who has lived in the U.S. for the past 3 of 5 years.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

Standing/Walking/Mobility: Must have mobility to attend meetings with managers and employees.

Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: 0%–10% of the time.

Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: 0%–10% of the time.

Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Must be able to write, type and use a telephone system 100% of the time.

Sitting: Extended periods of sitting while monitoring live or taped calls; may be restricted when handling live monitoring and translating of calls.
