Job Overview The Pilot Plant Operator follows established procedures to manufacture chemical intermediates and finished products. The Operator follows procedures that are set forth in batch records, GENs, and work instructions. This person completes a variety of duties: operating chemical processes as well as setup, cleaning of equipment, waste disposal, emergency response, warehouse activities, maintenance, and general clean‑up required to facilitate operation and regulatory compliance.

Schedule & Compensation Pay for this role is $25.00 hourly with a $4.00 hourly shift differential. Work schedule is Monday to Friday 1:45 pm to 10:15 pm. Operators are occasionally required to work overtime and/or weekends and may be required to temporarily work an alternate shift when the schedule requires it. Safety & Training Operators receive extensive safety and operator‑specific training before they are assigned process work. All candidates must successfully complete a pre‑employment physical, drug and marijuana test. All employees are subject to random drug testing throughout their careers at BSC.

Job Responsibilities

Uses protective equipment (PPE) as needed to prevent exposure to dangerous chemicals.

Follows batch records, GENs, work instructions and operating instructions to manufacture chemical intermediates and finished products.

Follows SOPs and other operating procedures to maintain a safe working environment that complies with safety and environmental rules and regulations.

Transfers raw materials, finished products, wastewater, waste solvents, and other wastes between tanks, drums, and shipping containers using pumps, pressure and other equipment; handles solid chemicals as chemical intermediates, products and waste.

Labels hazardous waste containers as appropriate to maintain compliance with labeling regulations.

Maintains records necessary to record process conditions as defined by procedures and as required in certain circumstances.

Maintains the production area(s) in a clean and orderly condition.

Performs yard and building cleanup as needed.

Performs shipping, packaging and receiving activities as needed.

Assists the Pilot Plant Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor in record keeping with daily shift report, inventory sheets, tanker logs, and other documentation.

Uses company computer/handheld devices to enter records and documents.

Attends training as designated to facilitate above knowledge and to maintain required updates.

Must be able to use a respirator/supplied air when needed (BSC provides the training) and follow OSHA, safety, and written guidelines.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).

Must pass a basic math and reading assessment.

Experience

Prefer experience in construction, manufacturing, or oil & gas industries.

Prefer experience working similar hours and shift to posted shift.

Prefer experience in a job that is indoor/outdoor and requires physical labor.

Forklift Certification – training provided after hire by Boulder Scientific Company.

Operator Introductory Training – training provided after hire by Boulder Scientific Company.

Entry‑level chemical production experience is helpful.

Working Conditions The position frequently requires work outdoors in all weather for extended periods. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The field frequently requires the use of PPE including a respirator. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally push, roll and/or move up to 100 pounds.
