The Opportunity This position works out of our Abbott Park IL facility.
What You’ll Work On The Operations Professional Development Program (OPDP) is Abbott’s world‑class undergraduate rotation program to grow the future operations leaders of Abbott. Operations PDP participants rotate through one‑year assignments over the course of three years.
The Manager, OPDP Americas, will be the primary liaison for Americas Operations PDP. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the program, from recruitment and onboarding to development and coaching, ensuring a high‑impact experience for OPDPs and long‑term value for the organization. The ideal candidate brings a strategic mindset, strong HR acumen, and a passion for developing early‑career talent.
Main Responsibilities
Reports to the Sr Manager Talent Development. Interacts and partners with:
APAC/LATAM and EMEA program management colleagues
Finance professional development and IT professional development leadership and program management offices
Operations Business leaders and employees’ company‑wide, including C‑corporate officers and Executive‑level leaders
Business HR partners across the Americas
Abbott Talent Deployment Team
Early Careers team
Talent Management design and ops team
Global HR Services, and colleagues within Talent Development
Various external vendors and suppliers
Design, implement, and continuously evolve the OPDP to align with business needs and talent priorities. Ensure the program remains competitive, relevant, and inclusive.
In partnership with the Early Career team, lead end‑to‑end recruitment efforts, including assessing and selecting the right candidates, and onboarding.
In partnership with Talent Deployment, strategically deploy OPDPs on expat assignments
Propose and deliver structured learning experiences for PDPs, mentorship opportunities, and performance feedback mechanisms.
Provide coaching and support to Americas PDPs and their assignment managers to maximize engagement and growth.
Track program metrics and outcomes to inform continuous improvement and stakeholder reporting.
Works with Sr. Manager and Area PMO colleagues to maintain budget; responsible for SOW, PO, invoices and other purchasing activities for the global organization.
Maintains detailed and structured project plans for annual processes and events.
Collaborates with vendors (training, housing, hotel, shipping, printing, etc.) to procure, plan and pay for services related to program and event logistics.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related fields.
5+ years of progressive talent and development experience in a variety of disciplines, including learning and development, assessment, recruitment, and talent management.
Strategic thinker with a passion for developing early‑career talent.
Strong coaching, facilitation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Proven ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives and influence stakeholders.
Experience in leading and managing others virtually, especially in a matrixed environment.
Demonstrated project management experience in a matrixed organization.
Experience managing HR data and using analytics to drive decisions.
Experience working in large, complex global organizations.
Experience working in manufacturing environments preferred.

The base pay for this position is $97,300.00 – $194,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
