Opportunity The Sr. Procurement Specialist (MRO Coordinator) in Evadale, TX is primarily responsible for issuing orders and tracking repairable and rental equipment. The successful candidate will report to the Purchasing Manager.
Impact The Sr. Procurement Specialist will own and manage both repairable and rental equipment to ensure optimal cost savings and equipment availability.
Repairable Equipment
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including suppliers, planners, project managers, storeroom manager, category managers, vendor maintenance, item master, and AP to own all aspects of repairable equipment.
Send damaged pumps, turbines, motors, gearboxes, fans, valves, etc. to approved repair shops.
Receive repair quotes, compare cost to new, and work with maintenance to determine the path forward.
If new, solicit bids, determine source, issue purchase order, and expedite delivery.
If repair, issue purchase order, track repair status and provide weekly updates.
Work with storeroom manager and suppliers to ensure inventory levels of repairable parts align with usage and lead times.
Expect 350 repairs per year that save Smurfit Westrock more than $7 mm vs buying new.
Rental Equipment
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to own all aspects of rental equipment.
Receive rental requirements from internal customers, solicit bids when preferred supplier is not a fit, create purchase requisitions, and ensure equipment is delivered and picked up on time.
Maintain database of all past and current rental equipment; evaluate to maximize utilization, minimize costs, reduce age of rental fleet, improve reliability, avoid lost or forgotten equipment, and recommend purchase when required by company policy or more economical.
Complete service entries to ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices.
Coordinate and host quarterly preferred supplier evaluations and ensure continuous improvement.
Expect 150 rentals per year and more than $3 mm in invoices.
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred or 10 years related experience.
Strong proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
Ability to problem solve, work independently, and multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
Ability to work in a team environment.
