The Academic Advisor reports to the Director of Advising and works with Student-Athlete Academic Services staff to provide academic advising, coordination, and learning/skill-building strategies for student-athletes on assigned teams. Assist with all aspects of course registration, major declaration, degree and graduation planning, and career exploration and development. Guide student-athletes in becoming active and independent learners to achieve academic goals at the University of Washington. Work with routine and specially admitted freshmen and students requiring more active support within the student-athlete population; develop individualized learning plans and track academic progress. Collaborate with departmental advisors to ensure timely degree progress and graduation for each assigned student-athlete. Assist with NCAA continuing eligibility reporting and documentation on a quarterly basis. Support events and programs in student-athlete development and liaise with departments across campus. Conduct one-on-one registration appointments, develop and implement individualized academic support plans, and lead program development with coaches and learning specialists. Provide academic information sessions, educate on policies and procedures, and help students track graduation requirements and plan classes for timely graduation. Coordinate exams and study halls as needed and assist with travel for academic purposes. Additional Responsibilities

Academic Coordination/Learning Resources: Assign and monitor tutoring; develop coping strategies and curricula to strengthen study skills; maintain relationships with UW faculty and athletics staff; prepare regular progress reports. Eligibility and Compliance: Manage departmental reports to support academic operations and compliance, including grade reports and enrollment tracking. Recruiting and Student-Athlete Development: Assist coaches with academic information for recruitment and support graduate/professional school applications; contribute to development programs and special initiatives. Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required in Education, Sports Administration/Management, Communication, English, or related field. Minimum of two years’ experience in academic advising, coordination, learning resources, tutoring, education, or student development/services. Equivalent education/experience may substitute for minimum qualifications where allowed. Additional Requirements

Experience and working knowledge of NCAA continuing eligibility, rules, policies, procedures, and regulations. Working knowledge of collegiate athletics and student-athlete demands; commitment to excellence, integrity, and student development. Strong multitasking, organization, time-management, and attention to detail; ability to work under pressure. Discretion with confidential information per FERPA; ability to counsel students on academic, professional, and personal matters. Excellent written and oral communication; ability to interact with diverse backgrounds. Ability to work collaboratively with staff, student-athletes, coaches, and university community; able to work independently with minimal supervision. Some travel and evening/weekend hours required. Desirable Qualifications

Master’s degree. More than two years in Intercollegiate Athletics in operations, student support services, or an administrative role. Experience with academic advising/coordination of student-athletes at the Division I level. Compensation, Benefits And Position Details

Pay Range Minimum: $70,800.00 annual Pay Range Maximum: $72,000.00 annual Other Compensation: Taxable benefits include tickets to UW Intercollegiate home competitions; moving allowance may be available for non-local candidates.
