Consultant, Abandoned and Unclaimed Property Compliance
The Abandoned and Unclaimed Property Consultant ("Consultant") works with a team to assist clients with the compliance of state unclaimed property laws. Responsibilities include process-oriented tasks, mailing search letters, preparing annual unclaimed property reports, and coordinating state payments. The Consultant creates positive team member experiences that drive client service and firm revenue.

Duties and Responsibilities
Respond to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities.
Create a positive team member experience.
Support senior consultants and management in client-related tasks.
Become technically proficient on Ryan’s unclaimed property reporting software.
Analyze and process client additions, removals, and updates to the unclaimed property database.
Identify, prepare, mail, and track owner outreach letters required by law.
Prepare and assemble state unclaimed property reports.
Maintain detailed notes regarding state and client-specific processes.
Utilize strong grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills.
Handle tasks with high accuracy and a strong work ethic.
Organize and prioritize multiple tasks under time constraints.
Handle and safeguard confidential information.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, or related field. Masters in Business Discipline, JD, Business Analytics, or Business Computer Information Systems also acceptable. Must have 9+ accounting hours with a 3.0 GPA or higher and a major GPA of 3.25. No unclaimed property or auditing experience required.
Computer Skills Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.
Certificates and Licenses Valid driver’s license required.
Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
Standard indoor working environment.
Occasional long periods of sitting while working at a computer.
Regular interaction with employees at all levels of the firm via email and telephone.
Interaction with clients and external vendors via email and telephone.
Independent travel up to 20%.
