Cybersecurity Chief Engineer

Cimarron is seeking a Cybersecurity Chief Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract at either Schriever Space Force Base in the Colorado Springs, CO area or at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. Key Duties: Lead the development and execution of the organization's cybersecurity technical strategy, defining secure architectures, engineering processes, and best practices across on-premises and cloud environments. Mentor and guide cybersecurity engineering teams to drive technical excellence, quality initiatives, and professional development. Oversee the design, integration, and deployment of secure systems, including networking, computing, and information assurance architectures. Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure security program effectiveness and continuous improvement. Serve as a cybersecurity subject matter expert, collaborating with internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners to ensure secure alignment with enterprise goals. Lead the organization through cybersecurity inspections, tests, and assessments to maintain compliance and readiness. Monitor and analyze the evolving threat landscape to proactively identify vulnerabilities and implement mitigation strategies using frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK. Ensure compliance with DoD RMF, NIST SP 800-160, and other applicable standards and regulations, while managing security documentation and audit readiness. Required Skills, Experience, and Education: Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time. Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include, but is not limited to, testing for marijuana use. This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire. Active Secret Clearance. 8 or more years of general, full-time work experience. 6 or more years of directly related experience. 2 or more years of experience working in a management or leadership role. Deep technical knowledge and strong understanding of security principles, networking, operating systems, and security technologies. Experience with recognized security frameworks and standards, including NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, and DoD RMF. Proficiency in cloud security best practices, tools, and technologies. Strong background in designing and implementing secure system architectures. Experience integrating secure systems across complex, multi-domain environments. Proven ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex security issues. Advanced analytical skills for threat assessment, risk management, and mitigation planning. Active CISSP or DoD 8570 IAT Level III certification required. Associate degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field. Desired Skills, Experience, or Education: Experience with compliance and audit processes. Familiar with the Missile Defense Agency and the Missile Defense System. Knowledge of emerging technologies (ex., AI/ML security, IoT security, blockchain) Strong project management capabilities aligned with Agile practices.
