Trideum is seeking a mid-to-senior level Network Engineer join our Corporate IT team at our Huntsville, AL headquarters to support critical network infrastructure. The Network Engineer/Architect will be responsible for designing, engineering, and maintaining secure, resilient network infrastructure across the enterprise. This position leads efforts in network segmentation, IP addressing, firewall policy management, cloud integration, and long-term architecture planning to ensure scalability, interoperability, and compliance with DoD standards. This role will also provide hands-on administration of firewalls, switches, routing, wireless systems, and host-based firewalls as needed to support operations. The Network Engineer/Architect will partner with cybersecurity teams on remediation and incident response, contribute to resiliency initiatives and documentation, and support hybrid and cloud projects in collaboration with system administrators. What You'll Do: Configure, monitor, and maintain firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and routing infrastructure across multiple sites. Manage Fortinet firewalls, policies, VPNs, and threat protections to maintain secure connectivity. Architect and implement VLANs, ACLs, QoS, and routing across Cisco, Dell, and Netgear switches. Apply patches and firmware to maintain security baselines, upgrade and replace legacy hardware. Monitor network health, troubleshoot outages, and ensure reliable uptime for critical systems. Support redundant network paths, VPNs, and ISP failover for business continuity. Produce and maintain accurate diagrams, inventories, and baselines detailing network architecture. Manage and regulate PPS on DoD networks to ensure security and interoperability. Configure, monitor, and enforce host-based firewall policies to protect endpoints and ensure compliance. Design and segment enterprise networks, including subnetting, IP address management, and traffic isolation. Contribute to future-state network roadmaps, ensuring scalability, security, and alignment with enterprise and DoD standards. Support Azure networking components such as VNets, NSGs, VPN Gateways, and ExpressRoute. Provide Tier 2/3 escalation support for network-related incidents and service requests. Partner with cybersecurity on remediation and incident response; assist the IT service desk with escalations; collaborate with system administrators on hybrid/cloud projects. Track metrics, recommend improvements, and complete ongoing training and certifications. Occasional travel to branch offices, customer sites, and professional development events. Requirements and Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred. Equivalent professional experience and certifications will be considered in lieu of degree. Experience: 5+ years of professional experience with network engineering, design, and administration in an enterprise environment Proven experience with firewall technologies (Fortinet FortiGate preferred) configuration and management, including policy design, VPNs, and advanced security features. Advanced knowledge of routing, switching, and segmentation (Cisco, Dell, Netgear), including VLANs, ACLs, and QoS Demonstrated experience with Ports, Protocols, and Services (PPS) management. Strong grasp of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other core network services. Experience with VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL VPN, client VPN deployment). Experience with wireless networking and NAC solutions. Certifications: CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Security+, Network+, or Fortinet NSE 3+ or higher Skills: Broad technical knowledge spanning network infrastructure, server administration, cloud services, and collaboration platforms. Strong architecture and design mindset with ability to balance long-term planning and immediate operational needs. Ability to translate business requirements into practical IT solutions while maintaining security and compliance. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of improving operational efficiency. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including policy and procedure documentation, and ability to work cross-functionally. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities US citizenship with the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
