Storage Engineer
Under minimal supervision, is responsible for administration, implementing, and supporting data storage solutions. This involves ensuring data is efficiently stored, managed, and backed up to meet operational and strategic objectives. This may also involve monitoring and controlling the performance and status of the storage infrastructure. This role will support and maintain the storage and data protection infrastructure. This may include evaluating and making recommendations in enhancements to the existing storage and data protection infrastructure. Administration of storage systems: This includes solutions like Storage Area Networks (SAN), Network-Attached Storage (NAS), and cloud data storage. Managing and maintaining storage infrastructure: This involves monitoring performance, capacity planning, and ensuring data integrity and security. Data Protection: They are responsible for implementing backup and recovery operations and disaster recovery plans. Troubleshooting: They diagnose and resolve issues related to storage systems. Collaboration: Storage Engineers often work with other IT teams like network engineers and database administrators to ensure smooth integration and optimization. Staying Current: They keep up with the latest advancements in data storage technology, including cloud computing and automation tools. Typically requires 57 years of related experience with a 4-year degree; or 3 years and an advanced degree; or equivalent work experience. Technical Skills: Proficiency in managing and configuring SAN, NAS, and cloud storage solutions; knowledge of storage protocols like Fibre Channel, iSCSI and NFS; experience with storage performance tuning and optimization; familiarity with backup and recovery tools. Familiarity with Enterprise storage systems such as those by Dell/EMC, Rubrik, NetApp, Veritas, HPE and/or Pure. Problem-solving and analytical skills: Essential for troubleshooting and optimizing storage systems. Communication Skills: Needed to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders across a Global Organization. Proficient in English. Works independently; receives minimal guidance. Contributes to process improvements. Typically resolves problems using existing solutions. Works with minimal guidance.
