Linux System Administrator
Cimarron is seeking a Linux System Administrator to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract at Schriever Space Force Base in the Colorado Springs, CO area. Key duties include: building, configuring, deploying, administering, maintaining, and troubleshooting virtual and physical servers and systems. Ensuring all system changes comply with developer documentation, configuration management, and documentation standards. Planning, developing, and executing work plans that support mission-critical requirements. Performing inspections and analyzing system/event logs to identify issues, trends, and support troubleshooting efforts. Installing, configuring, and managing RHEL and other Linux-based systems. Providing timely status updates to leads, managers, and stakeholders on task progress and issue resolution. Collaborating with integration leads and managers in problem analysis, requirements development, and implementation. Recommending technical solutions to improve system performance, processes, and operational efficiency. Utilizing the REMEDY ticketing system to track and document issues and resolutions. Supporting evening and weekend shifts as required for mission activities. Required skills, experience, and education include: due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time. Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include, but is not limited to, testing for marijuana use. This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire. Active Secret Clearance. 8 or more years of general, full-time work experience. 6 or more years of directly related experience in IT systems, installing and configuring operating systems and virtual machines, and troubleshooting. Must have experience with Multi-Factor Authentication methodology. Experience building, configuring, and deploying servers/systems in a virtualized environment. Administration experience on RHEL 8/9 using the Command Line Interface. Ability to interface with software engineers, system engineers, and subject matter experts to solve complex integration and technical problems. Current DoD-approved 8570 Level II certification (ex., Security+ CE). Desired skills, experience, or education include: experience working with Ansible automation. Experience in configuring and managing NetApp storage devices. Experience with security patching and software management using RHEL Satellite. Network troubleshooting experience. Knowledge of Missile Defense, DoD communications systems and MDIOC operations. Bachelor's degree in an IT or engineering-related discipline.
