Job Description We are seeking an engineer with a strong background in the design and/or commissioning of electrical systems in buildings, including: Normal power and emergency power systems (including generators) for high-rise buildings Lighting systems, battery back-up/UPS, switchgear, and photovoltaics Fire alarm systems; experience with low voltage systems is a plus The engineer will provide consulting services for commissioning, design review, field inspection, and testing of building systems. An interest in learning about commissioning and inspections related to mechanical and domestic hot water systems is also desirable. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Review Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) design documents such as drawings, specifications, Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR), and Basis of Design (BOD) to evaluate energy efficiency Perform measurement, verification, commissioning, and retro-commissioning activities Develop Pre-Functional and Functional testing forms in line with green building practices Collect data for energy conservation analyses through jobsite observation, field inspections, and submetering Conduct site visits for observation and acceptance of Pre-Functional tests Inspect and monitor energy systems including HVAC, lighting, power distribution, hot water, and pumping to identify energy savings opportunities Witness functional testing to verify proper installation and programming of systems according to green building standards Prepare project reports, CFR, O&M plans, systems manuals, and commissioning reports Conduct post-occupancy reviews after project completion Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent; 2 years of experience in mechanical systems, building design, and construction; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum 2 years of experience in commissioning services LEED AP certification or eligibility to obtain certification from GBCI Proficiency with Bluebeam, Procore, BlueRithm, Building Management Systems, and handheld test equipment Willingness to visit project sites in south Florida (Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade) approximately 50% of the time Additional Information SOCOTEC offers competitive compensation packages including salary, benefits, and bonuses based on experience.
