Position Summary The primary purpose of the HR Recruiter is to run the recruitment process as required by line managers (GM and Production Manager) for designated positions such as production, soil, etc. The recruiter must accomplish the defined recruitment cycle time. This role also supports all phases of the employee life cycle, including payroll assistance, benefit enrollment, recruiting lifecycle, HRIS systems, and more. The HR Generalist will search for and identify quality job applicants while keeping recruitment costs low, maintain accurate applicant tracking, build networks across industries, and occasionally travel to plant locations to gain role understanding. New hire orientation and plant supervisor duties may also be handled.
Duties and Responsibilities
Full execution of the recruitment process for designated positions throughout the company, including job posting, phone interviewing, in-person interviews, regular communication with candidates and managers, reference checking, background check, etc. Typical positions include production, soil, washroom, route driver, non-exempt, linen tech, maintenance tech, supervisor positions.
Manage posting of job vacancies on all required and desired venues such as state unemployment agencies, resources for diverse, disabled, veteran, minority and female candidates, continually building resource lists.
Work with hiring managers to develop job descriptions and recruiting plans.
Execute and complete recruitment plans by employing creative and aggressive strategies including ads, networking, and partnerships with external organizations.
Ensure that only qualified and suitable candidates are presented to managers for interviews.
Network through industry contacts, association memberships, college and trade school recruiting, career fairs, trade groups and employees to keep pipeline active.
Shepherd candidates through the recruitment process, setting up interviews, creating interview schedules, checking references, conducting background checks, arranging pre-employment drug tests if applicable.
Develop pools of applicants in anticipation of needs, identifying qualified passive candidates whenever possible.
Maintain thorough interview notes and ensure manager and interviewer feedback for each candidate.
Report progress on assigned job vacancies regularly.
Manage applicant flow in compliance with OFCCP guidelines; maintain accurate and up-to-date Applicant Tracking records.
Ensure successful completion of processes with managers, obtaining feedback on all candidates.
Execute new employee safety orientations.
Handle administrative duties as needed: generate reports timely, work with office staff to ensure new hire paperwork and reporting handled efficiently and accurately, manage new hire orientation including paperwork, plant tours and safety orientation.
Learn basic plant supervision duties and may fill in as needed as a plant supervisor.
Employee Relations and Workers Compensation
Complete employee onboarding and answer questions throughout the hiring process.
Serve as employee’s person of contact to update address, direct deposit information, or handle employment issues.
Assist in employment investigations, requiring thorough knowledge of FMLA/ADA laws and updated state and federal laws.
Lead accident reporting and filing Workers Compensation claims with insurance company.
Manage all SCDEW site (South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce) and unemployment claims and hearings.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS and ATS software (ADP preferred).
Ability to multi-task and avoid overwhelm when handling multiple openings across departments.
Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize for GM and Plant Manager.
Demonstrated ability to onboard new employees and manage HR tasks.

Qualifications and Successful Traits

At least 2 years recruiting experience with strong interviewing and sourcing skills.
At least one year of experience in another area of HR service such as Employee Relations or Payroll.

Self-confident, able to present in community job fairs or events to increase company presence.
Highly confidential and ethical.
Excellent organizational skills.
Understanding of recruiting cycle and legalities around recruiting and selection.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
2-3 years of experience in HR or related field.
