Tree Ground Worker – Ko Olina
Join Sperber Landscape Companies as a Tree Ground Worker in Ko Olina. Under the direction of the tree crew Foreman and Climber, assist with ground work operations and provide high-quality, friendly service. Candidates must adhere to company standards, procedures, and safety protocols at all times.
Responsibilities
Maintain equipment and tools: ensure proper operation, cleanliness, and readiness.
Assist with daily vehicle inspection.
Secure work sites for traffic and pedestrian control using signage, cones, barricades, caution tape.
Prepare essential tools (fuel, chainsaws, rakes, shovels, blowers).
Install lowering devices and bull ropes as required.
Handle rope work: clear climber lines, manage lowering ropes.
Prepare brush piles and logs for chipping or loading.
Buck brush and logs with chainsaws.
Operate heavy equipment to manage debris.
Chip brush, load logs, and grind tree stumps.
Prune small trees and hedge shrubs from the ground.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Physical Requirements
Frequent lifting of at least 50 lbs unassisted.
Bending, squatting, kneeling, moving daily; operate heavy, loud power equipment.
Basic verbal and written English skills.
Ability to learn and operate all equipment safely.
Self‑motivated, problem‑solving, follows safety procedures.
Willingness to learn and grow for advancement.
Must perform simple and accurate math.
Current Hawaii driver license and clean traffic record.
Working Conditions & Equipment Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions: dusty, hot, muddy, level properties, and steep hillside properties. Equipment used includes chainsaw, power pole saw, gas hedger, blower, chipper, stump grinder.
