Job Summary Responsible for completing and overseeing the training of all staff throughout the laboratory while working closely with the Management Team. This role includes training and mentoring employees, evaluating training performance, monitoring training action plans, improving operational efficiencies through thorough training, and maintaining a harmonious and professional workplace.

Essential Responsibilities

Supervise and conduct laboratory training for new and current personnel, ensuring compliance with FSNS Quality Manual, SOPs, and ISO 17025 guidelines.

Perform internal audits of training and ensure accurate performance and interpretation of test results.

Provide feedback and administer laboratory personnel training reviews.

Address client needs in collaboration with the Management Team; oversee status of all results and reporting for clients, including notification of out‑of‑specification results.

Process samples and perform all roles that report to the supervisor as needed.

Perform analyses in various laboratory areas when necessary.

Maintain high technical competence by reading scientific journals, attending professional workshops, and staying aware of industry issues and trends.

Work closely with Operations and Technical Managers and assist when needed.

Assist with managing priorities and schedules so individual and team goals are achieved with encouraged participation in the Food Safety Net Services Team.

Ensure safety of self and others within the work area.

Complete required trainer qualification training.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Life Science or related field.

Master’s degree in Life Science or related field preferred.

Two years of analytical laboratory experience, or equivalent education and experience.

Familiarity with GMP, OSHA guidelines, FDA, BAM, APHA, and Compendium methods and procedures.

Knowledge of LIMS and Microsoft Office products.

One year of experience managing personnel.

Training in general laboratory practices.

Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Mathematical skills (fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions).

Reasoning ability and independent judgment.

Supervision

Supervision and oversight of up to 30 incumbents, depending on lab volume.

Physical demands: dexterity, potential exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and microbiological pathogens; regular lifting up to 25 lbs; use of hearing protection in loud environments; ability to work flexible schedules.

Safety responsibilities: required use of appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing.
