Job Description / Essential Elements East Side Union High School District
Job Title: Frosh‑Soph/JV Coach
Supervisor: Athletic Director under the direction of the site principal
Responsibilities
Demonstrate knowledge of the fundamental skills and techniques needed for the specific sport.
Demonstrate successful personality and character traits appropriate to educational leadership.
Organize and lead practices.
Work cooperatively with the varsity head coach and/or Athletic Director to design an appropriate conditioning program.
Manage and organize skills including following all district guidelines and policies.
Work with parent groups, administrators, staff, and students.
Maintain positive communication with players and parents.
Instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork in a group of young people varying in athletic ability and socio‑economic background in preparation for the next level of play.
Help students balance a demanding academic workload with athletic commitment.
Work together in cohesion with all coaches within the sport program.
Follow CIF/CCSBVAL Coaches Code of Conduct and the BVAL policies and guidelines.
Follow appropriate district protocols regarding cash handling as delegated by the varsity head coach and/or Athletic Director.
Maintain and inventory equipment and uniforms as delegated by the varsity head coach and/or Athletic Director.
Minimum Qualifications
Playing experience in the specific sport at the high school, collegiate, amateur or professional level.
Experience coaching youth leagues, middle school, or sports camp in the same sport, or equivalent experience.
Current state of California coaching certifications.
Current certification required by the East Side Union High School District, including but not limited to ANNUAL mandated reporter training.
Must pass district fingerprint clearance.
Professional references.
Requirements / Qualifications
Complete Edjoin online application and submit cover letter and resume.
Pass fingerprint clearance and provide current TB test results, valid CPR certification, valid first aid certification, ASEP certification, sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) certification, heat illness prevention certificate, mandated reporter training, sexual harassment training, bloodborne pathogen exposure prevention, integrated pest management and concussion certification prior to employment.
Coach of second team (same season – 50% over category I, II or III). Compensation is conditional on lifting of restrictions and team’s authorized participation in the season.
