Job Summary Managing large budgets, the Budget Analyst I helps identify and implement initiatives that improve efficiency, foster innovation, and research changes to enhance revenue or reduce expenditures. Contributes to the preparation and submission of ADOT’s budget request to the Office of Strategic Planning and Budget (OSPB) and the Joint Legislative Budget Committee (JLBC). Conducts research that provides valuable insights for informed decision making and leading various ongoing projects, including the monthly Indirect Cost Allocation Plan (ICAP) execution, legislative reporting, and revenue forecasting. May also serve as a Division Financial Officer as needed with various tasks and other responsibilities.

Job Duties

Assist with the creation, analysis, and monitoring of ADOT's budget to ensure the most efficient use of the funds and appropriations according to law.

Maintain budgetary information within the AZ360 financial system and run ad hoc and recurring reports. Analyze the reports, research anomalies, and work with respective areas to correct miscodings.

Participate in the creation and submission of ADOT's budget request to OSPB and JLBC, research and respond to questions from OSPB and JLBC, determine fiscal impact of proposed legislation, and implement ADOT's budget after it becomes law.

Preferences Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Public Administration, or other discipline that requires financial or statistical problem‑solving analysis. Two more years of professional experience in budgeting, accounting, financial planning or business management or a Master’s Degree in Business (Finance) or Public Administration. Familiarity with legislative reporting and revenue forecasting is a plus.

Pre‑Employment Requirements Must possess and retain a current, valid class‑appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. Must maintain acceptable driving records and complete required driver training. Must maintain statutorily required liability insurance when operating a personally owned vehicle on state business. All newly hired state employees must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E‑Verify).
