Celadon Books is seeking a Senior Publicist to join our dynamic, collaborative team. This role is ideal for a strategic, resourceful self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has demonstrated success executing impactful publicity campaigns across both fiction and nonfiction.
The ideal candidate will bring proven media relationships, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across departments. A track record of crafting compelling pitches, managing multi-stop author tours, and problem-solving in real time is essential.
What you'll do:
Leverage deep knowledge of the media landscape—across legacy outlets, podcasts, newsletters, influencers, and emerging platforms—to craft innovative, customized publicity campaigns.
Secure national and regional media coverage for hardcover and paperback campaigns, across genres.
Independently plan and execute author tours, including local book events, media interviews, and author travel.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with producers, editors, book reviewers, event coordinators, and booksellers.
Communicate regularly and effectively with authors and agents.
Write and shape all press materials: pitch letters, press releases, author Q&As, and targeted media angles.
Collaborate with the editorial, marketing, and sales teams on campaign execution.
Have a deep understanding of the digital media space, including bloggers and social media (required).
What you'll bring:
Strong project management skills, with the ability to document and drive campaign timelines from planning through execution.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; must be able to communicate with authors and agents with professionalism, authority and credibility.
Initiative and desire to work successfully in a fast-paced, small team environment, self-directing day-to-day activities and prioritization; strong attention to detail, with an ability to follow up on items to ensure tight timelines and releases are met.
Understanding of AI models to be used for research and development of campaigns as well as a curiosity around new uses of AI for workflow optimization is a plus.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proven ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, collaborative environment.
Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented nature.
Ideal Experience:
4+ years book publicity experience.
Proficiency with Sales Force and Cision.
Management experience a plus.
Candidate must be in office as necessary for author management, group in-person brainstorms or projects, as well as select group events.
This role will have an annual salary of $65k-$70k.
