WPBF 25 News, the Hearst‑owned ABC affiliate in West Palm Beach, FL, is looking for a high‑energy, highly skilled weekend morning meteorologist to join our First Warning Weather Team. The ideal candidate will be an accurate forecaster who can tell an engaging, relatable weather story, keep viewers safe, and engage audiences on air and online.
Responsibilities
Provide accurate, compelling weather forecasts to give viewers the First Warning Weather
Deliver urgent weather information before and during severe weather events
Simultaneously provide content on TV, for radio partners, and on digital and social platforms
Use available technology and tools to tell an intriguing weather story
Deploy in the field during weather events
Create and post engaging weather content daily to Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube
Maintain a professional presence on social media, interacting with viewers
Participate in promotional activities, including public appearances
Present a positive brand image for the station in the community and on all platforms
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
Work any shift with flexibility
Attend in person as required
Requirements
Professional or schooling experience handling breaking news and severe weather coverage
In‑depth knowledge of weather science and forecasting
Preferred experience in extended coverage of tropical storms/hurricanes
Dynamic on‑air presence with conversational weather presentation
Ability to interpret and translate radar data
Proficient in using WSI and Baron graphics and technology
Experience with common television weather systems
Live field reporting experience on weather and related topics
Strong organizational skills
Excellent forecasting and on‑air skills
Ability to tell a compelling weather story
NWA and CBM seals are a plus
Related military experience will be considered
