Title - Medical Assistant I

Schedule - 08:00 - 1630
Duties - • Welcomes and communicates effectively with patients, families, staff and physicians. • Responds to customer questions w/prompt information related to appointment status, wait time or unanticipated problems. Responsibility B: Ensures efficient patient flow • Participates in planning optimal patient flow by monitoring provider schedules and communicating potential or actual problems. • Receives notification of patient's arrival and ready to room status from tracking system. • Identifies the appropriate room and communicates patient placement to appropriate staff. • Communicates regularly with providers to inform them of their status during the session. • Monitors patient flow in clinic and guest relations to promote customer service. • Informs patients, staff and providers of delays in patient flow that are occurring inside and outside of clinic. • Tracks prolonged wait times for patients in waiting room and investigates cause. • Turns over the exam room preparing it for the next patient visit. • Assist licensed provider with procedures. • Takes vital signs per clinic Product. • Performs diagnostic test as per MD/provider order (i.e. - EKG, newborn hearing screens). • Performs spirometry without medications.
Required - o MA Certified o EKG/Holter experience (Not Required) o Customer Service Friendly!
Skills - • Documents pertinent information in the medical record such as current immunizations, allergy status, vital signs, current medications, etc. • Documents telephone or prescription refill messages in the medical record and notifies provider to take action. Responsibility D: Lab responsibilities including point of care testing and phlebotomy • Follows institutional and departmental policies and procedures regarding waive testing, quality controls (QC's), instrument calibrations and maintenance, etc. • Processes lab specimens and performs tests. Reports results as written in applicable policies and procedures. • Performs non-invasive procedures such as venipunctures, finger sticks and heel sticks as written in department manual.
