$60.00/hr - $70.00/hr About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Mulesoft Developer to join our Integration and Interoperability Platform Engineering team within a leading health insurance organization. This role will focus on Mulesoft platform engineering and enabling development teams across the enterprise to build, scale, and manage integrations securely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is a hands-on Mulesoft expert with deep experience designing APIs and integration frameworks, mentoring other developers, and ensuring best practices around performance, security, and governance. You’ll play a key role in expanding and optimizing our enterprise Mulesoft platform — supporting critical data exchanges that power clinical, operational, and member-facing systems. Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deploy complex integrations, APIs, and microservices using the Mulesoft Anypoint Platform (CloudHub, API Manager, Runtime Fabric, DataWeave, etc.). Serve as a platform SME, supporting the setup, maintenance, and optimization of Mulesoft infrastructure and shared assets. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (architecture, data, DevOps, security, and business stakeholders) to define and implement integration patterns aligned with enterprise standards. Enable and mentor development teams across the organization by creating reusable frameworks, templates, and shared services to accelerate Mulesoft development. Implement API-led connectivity principles — ensuring consistent design, discoverability, and reusability of APIs across the ecosystem. Integrate with healthcare systems and standards such as HL7, FHIR, EDI (X12), and related interoperability frameworks. Support CI/CD pipeline integration, version control, and automated deployment processes for Mulesoft applications. Monitor and optimize performance, reliability, and scalability of integration solutions. Ensure compliance and security, applying OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and other authentication/authorization mechanisms. Contribute to architectural reviews, governance discussions, and continuous improvement of the integration platform. Qualifications & Experience
Required: 7+ years of total software development experience, with 4+ years of hands-on experience in Mulesoft Anypoint Platform (designing, developing, deploying APIs/integrations). Strong understanding of API-led architecture, microservices, and integration patterns (synchronous/asynchronous, event-driven, pub/sub). Deep knowledge of DataWeave, RAML, API Manager, Exchange, and Runtime Fabric. Proficiency in CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, etc.) and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Experience integrating healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, EDI, HIPAA-compliant APIs). Strong understanding of security and governance for APIs (OAuth2, JWT, TLS, etc.). Proven ability to mentor junior developers and guide cross-functional teams. Preferred: Experience with Mulesoft Platform Administration or Platform Engineering. Familiarity with API Management lifecycle and enterprise integration frameworks. Experience working within health insurance or healthcare IT environments. Mulesoft Certified Developer – Level 1 or Level 2 certification (preferred). Knowledge of Kong, Apigee, or other API management tools a plus.
