Responsibilities

Assists in the providing respiratory care to patients with healthcare issues affecting the cardiopulmonary system on adult inpatient care areas excluding critical care Conducts a program of treatment, management, diagnostic evaluation and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system in a safe and therapeutically effective manner. Independently performs therapeutic interventions on the adult inpatient floors. (Excludes: Ventilators, emergency room, critical care areas and pediatrics. If under direct supervision, RT apprentice may perform excluded interventions.) Determines the impact of interventions on the patient's condition and recognizes the patients progress toward meeting desired outcomes. Documents care in accordance with Policies and Procedures. Maintains awareness of environmental conditions and initiates corrective intervention as indicated. Maintain a professional relationship with the medical staff. Qualifications

Job Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Current full-time student in an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy that leads to a degree or certificate in Respiratory Care. RT Intern must maintain full-time status in a Respiratory Therapy program for continued employment. BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
