Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Revit Modeler to join our BIM team and lead the modeling and documentation of complex electrical projects using advanced Revit software capabilities. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting‑edge modeling technology while supervising project deliverables and mentoring team members in a collaborative, employee‑owned environment.
Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will involve creating project‑specific Revit families, leading modeling teams, coordinating with project teams, and ensuring all deliverables meet company standards and project deadlines. This position directly impacts project quality and client satisfaction through expert technical modeling skills and attention to detail. The role exists to support the company's growing portfolio of BIM‑enabled projects and maintain their reputation for technical excellence.
You’ll collaborate closely with the Family Development Team, Project Coordinators, Detailers, and other trades for 3D coordination while supervising and back‑checking work from junior team members. The ideal candidate is passionate about BIM technology and enjoys leading technical projects while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work with Family Development Team to implement revised standards and meet specific project requirements
Create project‑specific Revit families tailored to individual project needs and specifications
Lead and supervise comprehensive modeling and documentation of electrical projects from start to finish
Schedule and assign work to team members to ensure all project deliverable dates are met consistently
Clean and purge background drawings and models from other trades for integration into company Revit models
Create comprehensive company Revit models using coordinated backgrounds from multiple building trades
Collaborate effectively with project Coordinators and Detailers throughout the project lifecycle
Supervise the layout and input of marked‑up drawings into Revit models in accordance with company BIM standards
Perform thorough back‑checking of team members’ work for accuracy before passing deliverables to project teams
Maintain strict adherence to company confidentiality and non‑disclosure requirements while protecting proprietary intellectual property
Required Experience/Skills
Associate degree in Computerized Drafting or related technical discipline
Minimum 5 years of total experience
with comprehensive knowledge of electrical symbols, drafting conventions, and industry standards
Can be a combination of formal education, specialized training, and relevant hands‑on experience
Ability to interpret verbal and written direction effectively and translate into appropriate working design documents
Complete understanding of company BIM processes and procedures
including established workflow processes
Fluency in current version of Revit software
with advanced skills in creating parametric families, shared parameters, schedules, and complex geometry
Fluency in Autodesk Navis Works and Autodesk Design Review
software platforms
Proficiency in reading 2D plans both electronically and hard copy with strong spatial reasoning skills
Advanced knowledge of 3D layout, design principles, and coordination with other building trades
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
(Outlook, Word, Excel) with Oracle experience preferred
Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while adapting to changing requirements
Nice‑to‑Haves
Experience working in an employee‑owned (ESOP) company environment
Background with electrical engineering or construction industry projects
Experience leading and mentoring junior technical staff members
Knowledge of additional BIM software platforms beyond Revit and Navisworks
Understanding of electrical systems design and installation practices
Experience with project scheduling and workload management responsibilities
Education
Associate degree in Computerized Drafting or related technical discipline required
