Position Description
Environmental Professional Geologist

ELOS Environmental, LLC (ELOS) an Aventia Company seeks a motivated environmental geologist to support field efforts and report preparation, specifically as it pertains to Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), Phase II Subsurface Investigations in accordance with Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality’s Risk Evaluation Corrective Action Program (RECAP), as well as soil and groundwater data processing and modeling, basic file organization, etc. The successful applicant will be required to collect and interpret the field data as well as prepare the appropriate report.
The applicant must be organized, have experience installing soil borings and monitoring wells, logging the wells, sampling the borings/wells and performing slug tests, etc. Applicant must be capable of performing physical labor outdoors in various weather conditions, have experience in preparing various types of resource reports, and will be required to travel locally.
Education
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Earth Sciences, Engineering, Geology or Geophysics.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Perform Phase I Environmental Site Investigations
Conduct Phase II Site Investigations in accordance with RECAP, assist/prepare RECAP Report
Apply standard field practices and techniques using basic field equipment to collect samples and other data
Gather and process basic data, scientific documents, and other information collected by others to be used in the preparation of scientific reports
Compile and organize project document files
Apply knowledge of geology/earth sciences to explain field observations
Perform technical tasks as required in support of organizational objectives
Communicate with regulatory personnel to transmit and receive important project correspondence
Exercise compliance with company and other policies and procedures
Prepare basic data and scientific documents
LDEQ RECAP (Risk Evaluation/Corrective Action Program) experience (Preferred)
Successfully complete RECAP MO-1, MO-2 evaluations
Required Experience
5+ Years of Experience in Geology/Earth Sciences or related field (Phase I and II ESAs)
Professional Geologist Registration
Experience with Phase II investigations
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to take detailed organized notes
