Chartwells School Dining Services K12 Location: Ann Arbor Public Schools, 601 West Stadium Boulevard, Ann Arbor, MI 48103 Schedule: Full time, Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM Pay Range: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour Employee Referral Bonus: Available
Job Summary This position assists the Executive Chef in preparing and cooking foods, coordinating kitchen activities, and assuming responsibility for kitchen associates in the chef’s absence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Cook and prepare food following approved recipes and production standards; adhere to production schedules.
Supervise hourly food service associates; conduct interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and disciplinary actions as needed.
Store food in designated areas following all corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation procedures.
Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures.
Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils; keep workstations clean before leaving.
Interact with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service‑oriented manner.
Demonstrate knowledge of menu items and explain them to associates and customers.
Keep pace with peak production and service hours.
Monitor inventory and deliveries; track product usage and waste; notify supervisor of low supplies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications • Previous culinary or kitchen management experience preferred. • Ability to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
