nPosition Summary:
nWe have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Physician Assistant (37.5).
In this role, the successful candidate The Physician Assistant Service is dedicated to providing quality, professional, cost-effective health care to all patients at LICH.
nAt LICH, physician assistants (PA) practice medicine under the supervision of a licensed physician fulfilling a broad range of medical services that would otherwise be provided by the physician. The PA shall be permitted to provide any service within his/her scope of training/skills delegated by the supervising physician or the patients physician that has been approved by the Credentials Committee and is within the scope of practice of the physician. PAs provide care for in- and outpatients primarily in-house including, the Emergency Department, Pre-Admission Testing, the operating room, Employee Health, Psych Care, including pediatrics.
Job Responsibilities:
n* Introduces/identifies self as a physician assistantn* Performs initial assessment/history and physical examinationn* Orders and interprets tests/results(lab, radiol., ekg, etc.)based on patient needn* Documents care in the chart in accordance with Hospital policy & proceduren* Formulates diagnosesn* Formulates and implements treatment plann* Consults with physician when required based on patient's conditionn* Reassesses patientsn* Orders, applies, removes, reapplies restraintsn* Provides emergency medical care including Code 64 managementn* Triages patients--ED onlyn* Performs Trauma assessment/reassessment (Trauma Team only)n* Legibly documents in patient chart, departmental forms, and any other Hospital forms all pertinent patient information following departmental and Hospital policies.n* Documents any patient or family education on the Hospital patient and family education form.n* All orders and entries dated and timedn* Level of documentation matches severity of situationn* Results of tests ordered documentedn* Procedure notes completedn* Follow-up/consultation with physician documentedn* Verbal/telephone orders signed, dated, and timed by end of shiftn* Billing forms completed fully and submitted--house onlyn* Discharge instructions written and given-ED onlyn* Explains procedure to patient/familyn* Uses sterile techniquen* Performs procedures following accepted standards of care--IVs, foley cath, NGT, CVL removal, etc.n* Suturing-technique, suture selection, etc.n* Splinting-technique-ED onlyn* Assists in surgery-technique-OR credentialled onlyn* Performs CAT scan/MRI injectionsn* Demonstrates positive Service Excellence/customer satisfaction, positive attitude towards change, effective time management, positive communication skills, the ability to constructively give and accept feedback, and solid problem solving skillsn* Demonstrates the medical, technical, and personal skills to assess, reassess, & manage patientsn* Knows one's limitations and seeks help if neededn* Demonstrates the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detailn* Works as team member in multidisciplinary mannern* Maintains knowledge of current trends and techniques in the field by reading appropriate journals, books and other literature and attending related seminars, conferences and the like. nTo qualify you must have a Graduate of a PA program accredited by The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, or its predecessor.

nCurrent New York State license as Registered Physician Assistant
nCurrent BLS & ACLS documentation
nCurrent Pediatric Life Support (PALS)
nCurrent Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) documentation
nRequires the psychomotor skills, including walking, to perform examinations and procedures.
nThe interpersonal and customer service skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients, their family members, physicians, nursing, and other Hospital personnel when exchanging patient status, care, and treatment information.
nRequires the ability to recognize and address the psychosocial needs of patients and their families, and the ability and skills necessary to attend to special needs relating to the patient's age and diagnosis.
nThe ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for approximately seventy-five percent of work time for responsibilities such as providing patient care, operating and monitoring equipment, and recording data in patient charts.
nThe ability to walk and stand for approximately seventy-five percent of work time, and to lift, pull, push, and/or carry items such as equipment weighing up to twenty pounds or patients on stretchers for approximately twenty-five percent of work time when providing patient care..

Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York State Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $ 65.56 - $ 81.37 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
