Position Overview Under the supervision of the PI, the incumbent will perform programming tasks and assist in designing and analyzing systems related to genetic variation and human traits. Projects focus on complex genomic regions associated with diseases, utilizing techniques like graph-based genome representations. Responsibilities include maintaining computational pipelines for large-scale genomic data analysis, developing web applications, and packaging software as open source tools. The role involves applying bioinformatics concepts to small projects, following standard programming procedures, and working within a limited scope. QUALIFICATIONS Four years of related experience, education, or a Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, computational fields, or programming. Basic knowledge of bioinformatics methods, data structures, applications programming, web development, and Linux environment. Familiarity with C/C++, Python, R, databases, project management, and modern biology. Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and understand data privacy policies. Skills in virtual machines, web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), HPC, and code collaboration platforms like Github. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of whole genome sequencing technologies and data structures like pangenome graphs. Experience with cloud computing environments such as AWS. SPECIAL CONDITIONS Employment is contingent upon a criminal background check. Pay Transparency Annual full pay range: $69,500 - $123,500; prorated if less than full-time. Hourly range: $33.29 - $59.15. Compensation depends on experience, skills, education, and organizational needs.
