Job Summary: The
Material Handler - Shipping
is responsible for managing the movement of products within the
shipping department
to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment. This position involves safely operating
forklifts and pallet jacks , organizing orders for shipment, and maintaining a clean and efficient workspace. The ideal candidate is a dependable team player with strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and the ability to work independently after training.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate a
walkie rider pallet jack
and other warehouse equipment to pull and transport pallets. Load and unload trucks , ensuring products are handled safely and accurately. Fulfill customer orders efficiently and maintain a steady workflow in shipping areas. Use
handheld scanners and warehouse management systems
to track inventory and shipment progress. Adhere to all
safety standards, policies, and operating procedures . Support team objectives and be flexible in assisting other departments when needed. Maintain clean and organized work areas. Perform additional duties as assigned to meet operational goals. Required Experience:
6+ months of forklift experience
(must be forklift certified). Experience in
warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environments . Ability to read, understand, and record order information in English. Nice-to-Have Experience:
Prior experience in
shipping, receiving, or distribution . Exposure to ERP or warehouse tracking systems. Experience in roofing or building materials manufacturing. Required Skills:
Forklift operation
and material handling. Attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong communication and teamwork. Ability to work safely under minimal supervision. Preferred Skills:
Basic computer literacy for tracking loads and scanning. Adaptability to changing priorities and warehouse demands. Physical endurance for repetitive lifting and movement. Additional Skills:
Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods. Strong work ethic with a focus on punctuality and accountability. Positive attitude toward process improvement and collaboration. Education:
High school diploma or GED preferred. Benefits:
