Job Description

The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients who come in for health routine or life‑defining health decisions. The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing, following established practices and procedures. The PSR II has direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens skillfully, safely and accurately. The PSR II demonstrates leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence, sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy of patient information. Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center or other business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the area supervisor, perform daily activities accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a safe and professional environment.
  • Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
  • Verify patient demographic info, initials, patient signature post‑venipuncture to ensure tubes were labeled correctly.
  • Maintain required records and documentation.
  • Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.

Qualifications

  • Ability to provide quality, error‑free work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal on‑site supervision.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric.
  • Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on‑call and overtime.
  • Committed to all policies & procedures including company dress code, employee health & safety, and everyday excellence guiding principles.
  • Must be able to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable).
  • Travel and flexible hours required to cover multiple locations with minimal notice.
  • Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high‑volume setting.
  • Excellent customer focus; communicate openly and transparently with peers, supervisors and patients.

Required Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (REQUIRED).
  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy Certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience

  • Three (3) years phlebotomy experience REQUIRED, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric and capillary collections.
  • Minimum two (2) years in a patient service center environment preferred.
  • Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.
  • Floaters traveling between multiple sites, expected to be on time; clean driving record; mileage submission for expense reimbursement.
  • Ability to understand some Spanish to communicate with patients in this area/location.

Additional Information

Must list home city/commute time to jobsite on resume (within 20‑25 minutes).

Rate based on years of direct phlebotomy experience.

Floaters must maintain a clean driving record and submit mileage between sites. Endurance for full shifts and punctuality are essential.

  • Location: 39500‑FCG:QUEST‑5761, 40th St, Southwest.
  • Business Unit: Quest Diagnostics‑S. Fla Miami.
  • Shift: Monday – Friday 6:00 AM‑3:00 PM; Rotational Saturday 6:30 AM‑10:30 AM.
  • Overlay: Heavy volume at all sites.
  • No remote work.
  • No COVID vaccination required.
  • Position not a hospital site requiring additional credentialing.
  • Federal contract work in lab: No.
