Overview

The Accounting Manager oversees the full spectrum of accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, general ledger, cash flow management, project accounting, and the preparation of consolidated financial statements. This role also supports the development of internal controls, process automation, and financial planning to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all daily accounting activities, including A/R, A/P, payroll, invoicing, general ledger, cash flow, and project accounting.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
  • Maintain tax compliance, filings, and related financial disclosures.
  • Utilize accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar) to manage financial transactions and reporting.
  • Develop and implement internal control policies and procedures in compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations.
  • Lead process automation efforts for banking, payables, commissions, expense management, and reporting workflows.
  • Evaluate and optimize accounting systems, improving efficiency, accuracy, and data integrity.
  • Drive system standardization and change management initiatives, including documentation, training, and communication.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering professional growth and accountability.
  • Prepare and maintain cash reports, cash flow forecasts, and funding balances.
  • Manage vendor payments and receivables collections to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain organized and accurate financial records, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and tax filings.
  • Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses for senior leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal financial and tax regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (Accounting emphasis preferred).
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or management responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting principles.
  • Proven experience with accounting software and financial system implementations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities with a collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
