Job Title: Lecturer in American Sign Language

Position Overview
The Center for Languages, Literatures and Cultures (CLLC) seeks to appoint one (1) full‑time lecturer (non‑tenure track) in the American Sign Language (ASL) Program, starting in the spring semester of the 2025–2026 academic year or the fall semester of the 2026–2027 academic year. This is a three‑year position with the possibility of renewal. The ASL Program is a rapidly growing program that offers an elementary language sequence, an ASL Studies minor, and a forthcoming major. It operates as a full‑immersion program using internally developed curriculum and supportive materials.
Performance Objectives
- Teach eight (8) ASL/GE language courses, including undergraduate and/or certificate programs, over two (2) semesters during the academic calendar (Autumn & Spring).
- Participate in staff meetings and departmental discussions.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Master’s degree or higher (preferably in Teaching ASL as a Foreign/Second Language, Education, Linguistics, Deaf Studies, Interpreting, or a related field). Master’s holders without a degree may still apply pending additional approval.
- Native or near‑native fluency in ASL.
- Substantial knowledge of Deaf culture, history, and community engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Preferred: Knowledge of ASL pedagogy and strong teaching experience at the college level.
