Description Of The Role

The Lantern Columbia is seeking a dynamic and experienced Restaurant Manager to lead the Ladder 13 team in Columbia, SC. As the Ladder 13 Restaurant Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day front‑of‑house service operations of the hotel's upscale, indoor‑outdoor restaurant and bar.

Menu created by James Beard nominee Chef Kevin Johnson. The restaurant offers fast casual breakfast, upscale afternoon/evening lobby F&B service, dinner, and a cocktail bar that is expected to be the best in Columbia.

The Manager will inspire, educate, drive creativity, adhere to rigorous standards, and focus on delivering desired financial results.

Responsibilities

• Inspirationally lead the front‑of‑house team to deliver an extraordinary guest and team member experience.
• Work with the Executive Chef and Bar Supervisor to educate the team on menu items and improve the restaurant and bar experience.
• Ensure all food sanitation and staff certification requirements are met.
• Ensure the front‑of‑house team has all working materials (china, glass, silverware, paper goods, to‑go boxes, etc.).
• Oversee and ensure the Steps of Service are executed to standards at all meal periods and bar service.
• Encourage creativity with the bar staff in cocktail creations.
• Schedule all front‑of‑house positions to forecast.
• Balance oversight and leadership duties for a 7‑day‑a‑week F&B operation by working with the supervisory team.

Requirements

• Previous experience in restaurant and bar management.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Strong understanding of a profit and loss statement.
• Capability to craft schedules that balance forecasted business levels and payroll requirements.
• A passion for food and beverage and a real understanding of the responsibility we have when guests gather around a dining table or in a bar.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
• Patience, love, compassion, tolerance – important when working with the special team at The Lantern Columbia and Ladder 13.
