About the role As a Principal Business Intelligence Engineer, you will lead the architecture, optimization, and design standards of the company’s BI ecosystem. You’ll work closely with BI teams across multiple geographies to develop high-performance data models, dashboards, and reporting processes that align with governance and quality standards. In this strategic and technical leadership position, you’ll also act as a mentor, a technical authority, and a key collaborator with stakeholders across the organization.
Tech stack You’ll work with BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or Qlik; modern data platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks; and cloud environments like Azure, AWS, or GCP. A strong command of SQL, ETL processes, and data warehousing will be essential.
What will you do
Design BI data architecture and pipelines to support reporting, dashboards, and business intelligence use cases.
Define and enforce visualization and UX guidelines for BI outputs, ensuring storytelling and user experience align with design standards.
Guide performance optimization efforts for dashboards and BI systems to ensure scalability and usability.
Promote automation and simplification of reporting through scalable solutions.
Mentor BI engineers across teams, elevating output through best practices and technical leadership.
Collaborate with product, analytics, and business teams to translate requirements into actionable BI solutions.
Validate and review data products (schemas, models, reports, dashboards) to uphold quality and consistency.
Lead vendor communication and strategy on BI tools and technologies.
Continuously assess new BI trends and methods, applying improvements across the analytics stack.
Ideally you bring
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in BI or data analytics, with at least 3 years in a senior or principal-level role.
Strong experience designing and building BI platforms, data models, and reporting solutions.
Deep understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines, data governance, and warehousing principles.
Hands‑on experience with major BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Qlik).
Expertise in SQL and analytical querying over complex datasets.
Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, GCP, AWS) and technologies like Snowflake, Databricks, or Redshift.
Excellent leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to drive technical and strategic initiatives.
Strong communication and stakeholder management experience across business and technical teams.
Proven project management skills and experience using tools like Jira to manage multiple workstreams.
