Medical Technologist (MLS) - Core Lab at Endeavor Health Location: Evanston Hospital Hours: Full Time, Monday–Friday, varying shifts including nights and weekends as needed What You Will Do
Perform clinical lab testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, and Coagulation Handle Special Coagulation, Immunology, Bone Marrow, and Flow Cytometry testing as part of the day shift Promote patient satisfaction and customer service values with staff, clinicians, and patients Instruct and encourage coworkers to treat patients and customers courteously Perform tests manually and with automated equipment, and use appropriate reagents and methodologies Review patient test results for accuracy and notify appropriate clinical personnel of all critical results Document notifications and perform quality control per departmental protocols; take corrective action when QC is out of range Maintain instrument checks, maintenance, troubleshooting, and departmental protocol compliance Maintain competency per hospital and laboratory policies Recognize abnormal results and make appropriate decisions before releasing results; notify supervisor and pathologist when necessary Participate in continuing education, in-services, lab meetings, and committees Maintain a safe work environment with PPE and proper handling of biohazardous materials and chemicals Maintain inventory and supplies; perform computer tasks and manage workload and turn‑around times Assist with orientation and training of new employees and students; may assist in competency assessments Cross-train to other lab areas as needed; read and respond to emails in a timely manner Other projects or duties as assigned What You Will Need
Education: Bachelor of Science, Biology or Chemistry Certification: MLS (ASCP) or equivalent Experience: Any Unique or Preferred Skills: Chemistry, Hematology, UA, Body Fluids, Coagulation Benefits
