Primary Purpose Manage transmission, substation, distribution, gas, and information technology projects that cross multiple disciplines and operating areas. Lead cross‑functional teams, manage scope, schedule, budget, and safety performance. Drive projects from business case and capital approval through planning, execution, and closeout, handling budgets typically between $250K and $15M.
Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
Primary Duties
Responsible for overall project performance of major transmission, substation, distribution, gas construction, new technology, IT, and organizational initiatives.
Ensure project costs, schedule, and scope stay within approved limits, developing recovery plans as needed.
Interface with external and internal stakeholders to coordinate project requirements.
Communicate with the sponsor and key stakeholders on project issues, including executive‑level and interdepartmental presentations.
Maintain positive working relationships among the project team, line managers, and interfacing organizations.
Coach and lead team members to ensure task completion.
Identify and secure project team resources.
Ensure team members understand their responsibilities.
Job Scope The Project Manager is an individual contributor accountable for project budgets, team performance, and strategic planning across various organizations. Responsibilities include managing scope, budget, and schedule, providing structured reports to management, and overseeing business case development, approvals, scheduling, requirements engineering, design, procurement, environmental analysis, real estate and external stakeholder relations, quality assurance, and change management.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with 4‑7 years of relevant project management experience, OR high school diploma with 6‑9 years of relevant experience (construction). For non‑construction roles, similar educational and experience levels apply.
Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or to achieve CAPM within two years of hire (PMP certification fulfills this requirement).
Demonstrated success managing projects.
Strong independent judgment and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently, lead teams, and handle conflicting priorities in a multitask environment.
Strong time‑management skills.
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in engineering or business administration.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Professional Engineer license.
Experience or knowledge in utility design, planning, construction, or information technology.
