This role is ideal for a research-driven innovator—someone with a PhD-level background and a passion for pushing the boundaries of language-based AI, publishing impactful findings, and guiding teams to translate breakthrough ideas into real-world healthcare solutions. Leading the team, you’ll be focused on advancing NLU/NLP models for medical, operational, and decision-support systems. Responsibilities
Lead pioneering NLU/NLP research: Design, prototype, and publish new methods in machine understanding, reasoning, and contextual dialogue for healthcare and biomedical applications. Drive core R&D initiatives: Build and mentor a world-class team of AI researchers and engineers dedicated to advancing generative and agentic AI capabilities. Develop next-generation AI architectures: Innovate in LLMs, knowledge-grounded reasoning, and adaptive dialogue systems tailored to healthcare data and workflows. Advance applied AI science: Adapt and fine-tune transformer-based and multi-modal models for healthcare-specific use cases, ensuring compliance with ethical and regulatory standards. Bridge research and production: Partner with engineering to transition experimental AI systems into scalable, production-grade healthcare platforms. Foster academic engagement: Publish research in leading conferences/journals and represent the company at global AI and health informatics forums. Ensure scientific rigor: Implement robust model evaluation frameworks addressing accuracy, bias, explainability, and real-world reliability. Champion knowledge-sharing: Lead internal seminars, research reviews, and workshops to accelerate innovation across the organization. Your Background
Required Qualifications
PhD (or equivalent research experience) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related field. 5+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML with deep expertise in NLU, NLP, and large language models. Proven record of research publication or open-source contribution in natural language or agentic AI. Strong proficiency in Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, and modern NLP frameworks (Hugging Face, LangChain, RAG systems, etc.). Experience in developing reasoning-capable, autonomous agents and generative AI systems. Familiarity with healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7) and regulatory environments (HIPAA, HITRUST). Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire research teams across multi-disciplinary domains. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in multi-modal AI (text, image, structured data). Expertise in knowledge graphs, symbolic reasoning, and hybrid AI systems. Strong track record of turning research into deployed, high-impact solutions. Prior engagement with academic or industry research consortia. Seniority level
