BRMS / Drools (Java) Developer at Lumenalta. Fully remote position with work based in the United States time zones (Pacific, Central, or Eastern). Base pay range presented: $60,000.00/yr - $96,000.00/yr; final compensation determined by qualifications and experience. What You’ll Do

Design, develop, and optimize business rules using the Drools Rule Engine, integrating these rules into Java/Spring Boot enterprise applications. Develop and implement Decision Model and Notation (DMN) models and complex event processing (CEP) features using Drools Fusion. Build and maintain microservice architectures, ensuring seamless integration of rule-based services. Containerize and deploy Drools applications using Docker and manage them in AWS cloud environments. Configure, tune, and maintain application servers such as WildFly (JBoss AS) and Tomcat. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Business Analysts and Product Managers, to translate complex business logic into executable rules. Implement and maintain automated test suites to validate rule execution and ensure system stability. Monitor, optimize, and continuously improve rule performance and scalability. Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. 7+ years of experience in Java development with a strong focus on the Drools Rule Engine. Hands-on experience with Drools Workbench, KIE Execution Server, and KIE APIs. Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture. Experience with containerization (Docker) and cloud platforms, preferably AWS. Strong understanding of rule-based systems, decision tables, and rule optimization techniques. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and test automation frameworks (JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber). Nice to Have

Experience with Red Hat Decision Manager (RHDM) or other enterprise BRMS tools. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and infrastructure as code. Exposure to performance tuning, rule versioning, and governance in production environments. Familiarity with API integration and REST-based decision services. This position is open to candidates based in the United States only. Applicants must have current U.S. work authorization. Location & Hours

This is a fully remote position; however, candidates must be based in the Pacific, Central, or Eastern U.S. time zones to ensure effective collaboration with client and team schedules. This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Benefits
