Principal Risk Manager , you will enable Microsoft Sovereign Cloud (MSC) senior leaders to operate with agility at scale – at headquarters, on the road, and during complex customer/partner engagements – by building, operating, and continuously improving a discreet, data-driven operations program. The role integrates operations management, customer / partner event coordination and risk management into a cohesive operating model. Responsibilities

Design and run the executive operations program: policies, SOPs, and risk governance. Establish a risk mitigation playbook (planning, pre briefings, risk assessments, and post debriefings). For hosted engagements, coordinate with visiting customer / partner teams, and leverage internal resources; when capacity, scope, or skill gaps exist, source and manage external support in line with executive standards. Maintain discreet, high-trust access to relevant business context to tailor engagement plans to business objectives. Map current company assets and services and document to cover requirements; develop operational models for engagements. Rank-order risk mitigations by impact / feasibility; brief executive team on options and own execution of the agreed plan. Identify where specialized capabilities are needed; run the full vendor life cycle (requirements, market scan, due diligence, SOW / KPIs, onboarding, and performance management; integrate outputs into the operating plan). Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor\'s Degree AND 8+ years experience in risk management, privacy, security, compliance, government intelligence, operations, and/or finance OR 10+ years experience in risk management, privacy, security, compliance, government intelligence, operations, and/or finance OR equivalent experience. 8+ years demonstrated success leading in non-permissive and politically sensitive environments: Led small, cross-functional teams on high-stakes tasks where the environment is ambiguous and the stakeholders are nuanced (joint, interagency, and coalition). Other Requirements

Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements. These include, but are not limited to, active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to SCI based on SSBI with Polygraph; ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements; failure to maintain appropriate clearance may result in employment action. Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Citizenship will be verified via valid documents or verified US government clearance where required. Preferred/Additional Qualifications

Operations leadership in complex environments: Experience planning, briefing, and leading complex operations with limited guidance. Experience liaising with government defense / intelligence / law enforcement leaders: Comfortable liaising with public-sector counterparts and integrating their requirements. Discretion and Governance: Impeccable judgment with sensitive business context and personal data; operates under “minimum necessary” and need-to-know. Compensation

Risk Management IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for these locations is USD $165,600 - $303,600 per year.
