Software Engineer - Compliance, Inquiry, and Audit
Location: Chicago, IL DRW is a diversified trading firm with over three decades of experience in the markets. The UP‑Compliance (UP‑CMP) team provides the technology solution for all regulatory‑reporting and trade‑surveillance needs. In a highly diversified trading environment, vast volumes of data must be continuously analyzed to ensure DRW satisfies its regulatory obligations. Responsibilities
Address ad‑hoc and unplanned work requests involving code changes, scripting, and rapid prototyping. Manage frequent context switches between high‑priority tasks. Make informed decisions about task ownership, prioritization, and delegation to teammates. Document, analyze, and implement production‑system optimizations when inefficiencies are discovered. Test changes thoroughly to maintain reliability, scalability, and maintainability of production systems. Perform deep debugging and root‑cause analysis in unfamiliar codebases. Proactively triage production issues and resolve them promptly. Deliver end‑to‑end solutions, ensuring clear resolution and stakeholder communication. Collaborate effectively with development teams and compliance officers. Desired Experience
Minimum of 3 years as a backend engineer. Strong programming skills in Java, Elixir, Scala, or TypeScript; experience with both object‑oriented and functional paradigms. Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Linux, and version control (git). Exposure to orchestration tools such as Argo and Airflow. Working knowledge of SQL and Spark. Experience with Data Lakehouse concepts or related technologies. Compensation
The annual base salary range for this position is $125,000 to $200,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and skill set. The role also includes an annual discretionary bonus. Benefits
