Our specialists are leading experts in their fields. Take Your Geotechnical Career to the Next Level Kleinfelder is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer
with 12+ years of experience to join our Denver, CO based team. Qualified candidates must possess at least a B.S. in Civil Engineering (geotechnical emphasis), Geological Engineering, or related field plus a Professional Engineering (PE) license. Candidates with a Master’s degree are strongly preferred but not required. Strong candidates will have excellent technical, organizational, interpersonal, communication, computer, and writing skills and be able to function well in teams with diverse experience and qualifications. The role involves technical leadership, oversight of analysis and geotechnical engineering, and project management on projects primarily in the power, transportation, industrial, and water market sectors. While this role is primarily based on-site, remote arrangements may be considered for the right candidate who demonstrates exceptional skills and alignment with our mission. The selected candidate will work with technical teams and deliver a diverse range of geotechnical engineering services. Responsibilities
Preparing and presenting technical presentations to clients, extracurricular organizations, and internal training programs. Assessment of site geology and geologic hazards. Planning and technical oversight of subsurface explorations, foundation load testing, and laboratory testing. Geotechnical activities may include evaluation of shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, pavement design, embankment dams, and large earthmoving projects. Perform independent technical reviews of calculations, analyses, plans, specifications, and reports prepared by others. Develop or guide the development of workflow processes and tools to streamline the work. Mentor technical and non-technical staff at all levels. Grow client relationships and develop business through the work. Capture business development opportunities through preparation of technical proposals. Adhere to Kleinfelder workflows, processes, and policies to secure project resources, complete proposals, develop contracts, maintain project records, monitor project performance, bill clients, collect receivables, and close out. Assist team members in resource sharing, support loss prevention systems, and facilitate collaboration with market managers. Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; Master’s degree preferred. Experience:
12+ years in a consulting engineering environment; or 8 years with a Master’s; or 6 years with a PhD. Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations required. Certification/Registration:
Professional Engineering licensure required. Other Knowledge and Skills:
Superior communication skills, deep knowledge of company products and operations, and a high level of technical expertise. Proficiency in software such as Lpile, Apile, Shaft, GeoStudio Suite, Settle3D, slope stability analyses, or similar is necessary. Compensation and Benefits
Salary:
The expected salary range is $124,000 - $182,000. Salary is based on qualifications and experience. We will be accepting applications through Monday, 12/17/2025. Benefits:
