The YMCA of Greater Richmond is seeking a full-time, mission-driven, team-oriented professional to lead and oversee the Aquatics department, including staff supervision. A primary focus of this role is growing aquatics programming and overall branch membership to enhance community impact and organizational reach.

Key Responsibilities

Staff development, program enhancement, and member engagement.

Oversee swim lesson program, supervise and schedule lifeguards, manage water exercise schedule and instructors, and ensure pool cleanliness and safety.

Develop and implement programs; coordinate and schedule swim lessons and other programs; on-deck supervision of programs and lifeguards; teach group swim lessons or provide in-water support for instructors.

Work closely and collaboratively with other departments to engage members and provide excellent service; partner with schools and community members.

This is a hands-on position that will require afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

At least two years of aquatics management experience.

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to create and run programs and build relationships with members and staff.

Attention to detail and leadership skills; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Current CPR-Pro, AED, First Aid, O2, and YMCA/Red Cross/Ellis lifeguard certifications.

YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification and experience preferred. Trainer-level and water fitness certifications are desired but not required.

Compensation/Benefits

Competitive salary range: up to $46,000 based on experience and qualifications.
