Archer
Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility.
We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.
Our sights are set high and our problems are hard, and we believe that diversity in the workplace is what makes us smarter, drives better insights, and will ultimately lift us all to success. We are dedicated to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces our differences, and supports and celebrates all of our team members.
Archer Aviation is seeking a highly motivated, experienced engineer to join our team in revolutionizing the aviation industry. The candidate will support design, analysis, manufacture, and testing of the rotor system on a new unmanned vehicle platform. This role requires expertise at rotorcraft dynamic systems and a background in aerodynamics, structural dynamics, and material and processes used in the industry. Candidate should have experience with creating 3D CAD models and 2D drawings and will support through the entire product lifecycle, from initial concepts through manufacturing and production. The ideal candidate will act as a mentor to other members of the team with less experience and establish best practices to follow for the program.

Lead the design of a new rotor system, including rotor assembly, blades, and control system
Create 3D models of aircraft components, to include both metallic and composite structures
Create 2D drawings of structures to support manufacturing and procurement, to include geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
Perform tolerance stack-ups of assemblies to ensure fit and performance
Generate bill of materials as required for the program and ensure accuracy
Release drawings, models, and documentation through configuration management tools
Set up program architecture for drawing management and release
Ensure any designs comply with company specifications and meet programs requirements
Perform design reviews, provide technical input related to dynamic systems, and participate in drawing release process
Establish and enforce best practices for critical aerospace components
Support program needs for conceptual design layouts and trade studies
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
12+ years of experience in design of aircraft dynamic systems
Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret CAD models
Strong foundation in GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards
Ability to perform tolerance stack-ups
Understanding of common aerospace materials and fabrication techniques
Familiarity with common aerospace standards (NAS, MS, MIL-STD, AS9100)
Experience working with PLM systems (ENOVIA, Teamcenter)
Preferred Qualifications
Masters in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
20+ years of experience in rotorcraft design, including new development
Proficient in NX and Teamcenter
Basic knowledge of common manufacturing methods for composite structures
Understanding of rotorcraft dynamics and their influence on rotor design
